Luxembourg and Italy will inaugurate a close collaboration in the field of space at this year’s International Astronautical Congress (IAC), taking place at the World Trade Center in Dubai.
A memorandum of understanding has been signed at the global space conference on October 26th, 2021 by Marc Serres, CEO of the Luxembourg Space Agency, and Giorgio Saccoccia, President of the Italian Space Agency.
The memorandum will establish a framework of cooperation that will include sharing expertise and exchanging information between the two countries. The collaboration will be put into practice through common interest projects in the fields of civil space exploration and sustainable utilization of space resources. This will encompass not only the two countries’ space agencies, but aims to extend to the research institutes and private sector space companies located there.
The Luxembourg Space Agency and the Italian Space Agency will also coordinate on policy decisions, working together to promote the principles of the Outer Space Treaty— the normative framework governing outer space activities adopted under the UN in 1967.
