PRODUCTS & SERVICES

The Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) provides research, technology development, and advanced testing capabilities supporting the space sector. As a public research and technology organisation, LIST works with industry, start-ups, and institutions to develop innovative solutions for sustainable space exploration and the in-space economy.

In partnership with the Luxembourg Space Agency, LIST co-founded the European Space Resources Innovation Centre (ESRIC), the world’s first centre dedicated to space resources.

LIST’s space-related activities focus on three main areas:

Space resources and sustainable exploration

  • In-situ resource utilisation (ISRU) technologies
  • Scientific instrumentation and sensing for space resources analysis
  • Remote sensing and data-driven exploration
  • Technologies for sustainable surface infrastructure and long-duration missions

Advanced materials and space technologies

  • Protective coatings for satellites operating in Very Low Earth Orbit
  • Lightweight and sustainable composite materials for spacecraft
  • Printed sensors and smart structures integrated into spacecraft components
  • In-space manufacturing technologies and CubeSat demonstrations

Digital, energy and communication systems

  • Hybrid terrestrial–satellite communication networks (5G integration)
  • AI-enabled autonomous systems and robotics for space operations
  • Advanced diagnostics for propulsion systems
  • Augmented and virtual reality tools for mission preparation and training

LIST also supports the growth of the space ecosystem through technology transfer, collaborative research projects, and incubation activities within the ESRIC space resources ecosystem.
