ClearSpace’s Phoenix mission to extend satellite life directly in-orbit gets the green light!

ClearSpace has officially signed a new contract with the European Space Agency (ESA) to advance the next development phase of its Phoenix mission, a €100 million programme aimed at extending the operational life of satellites in geostationary orbit. Funded under ESA's ARTES programme and building on support from the Government of Luxembourg, this phase will test rendezvous manoeuvres, proximity, and docking technologies. Once operational, the Phoenix servicing spacecraft will be able to safely attach to existing satellites to provide essential propulsion and attitude-control capabilities, effectively prolonging the lifespan of valuable space assets and promoting sustainable, responsible end-of-life operations in orbit.
