From Luxembourg to the edge of space!
The "Astronaut For a Day" programme is an initiative that gives secondary school students in Luxembourg a taste of real astronaut training. Organized by the Luxembourg Space Agency – with the support of the Minister of Economy, Minister of Education, and Minister of Sports – this unique experience will challenge participants with athletic trials, logic tests, and team building exercises modelled after actual astronaut selection processes.
Over several months (March to July), participants will compete for the chance to experience true weightlessness during a parabolic flight on October 14, 2025.
This flight is only the beginning of the adventure as the selected students will become space ambassadors, entrusted with the mission of inspiring the next generations.
What’s new this year?
In 2025, the programme is expanding internationally to welcome students from Estonia and Austria, a collaboration that reflects the broader European effort to develop talent for the future of the space industry.
Another particularity this year is the opening of a summer school to help students explore different career paths in space and provide them with the necessary tools for their role as ambassadors.
Who can apply?
If you're a secondary school student, aged 13 or above and dreaming of space, this is your chance to make your dream a reality!
Applications are now open until the 14th March 2025.
